Welcome to the International Creative Blog Hop

1.) What am I working on/writing?
YAS dress Drop Pant
In the studio, a textile art series on the historical use of food by the powerful to control the lives of the powerless. Potatoes in Ireland, rice in India, cocoa in Ghana, bananas in Jamaica, grain in the Ukraine.
I began the background dyeing two years ago on six pieces of a recycled, nice and weighty piece of Israeli manufactured cotton.
Didn't like the designs.
Will discharge and see what happens.
This is an age old political and economic situation, I don't feel pressured to get the series completed by any specific date.

2.) How does my work/writing differ from others of its genre?
I am firmly glued to traditional textile processes - silk screen, hot wax batik, lino and wood block prints, adire, etc.
At the same time I am completely enamored of digital textile design.
Old school, new school, old school, new school.

3.) Why do I do what I do?
Too slow to even think of doing anything else.

4.) How does my writing/working process work?

Daily I mope around in the studio, waiting for the 5% muse to strike. My ratio of good work to terrible work runs around 5%. The 95% can be exciting and usually leads somewhere, but still doesn't completely work in the moment. (See answer to question #1.)

(The clothes in the images are created in traditional textile art processes, uploaded into PhotoShop and Illustrator, digitally edited and manipulated, then digitally printed onto custom manufactured garments. They can be found at YAS dress on Print All Over Me.)
(Yes, you wear all three pieces at the same time, or not. Depends on the day and how you feel.)
